Please study the following list of Brazil's major geographic/topographic/regional features. You will be quizzed on these items at the end of lecture on

The pass/fail quiz, to be given at the end of class on Tuesday, February 7, 2006, will ask that you correctly locate ten items drawn from the list below. A blank map similar to the one on the reverse will be provided. Seven or more correct answers will be considered a passing grade. All passing grades will be given full credit for the map quiz (5% of total course grade). If you do not pass on the first attempt, you may retake the quiz twice.

Study Tip: For starters, look at the maps reproduced in the Viotti da Costa and Skidmore readings. You might then look through one of the numerous atlases available in the Reference Division of McKeldin Library. For a reliable (if graphically outdated) teaching atlas of Latin America, see Cathryn and John Lombardi, Latin American History: A Teaching Atlas [MCKREF G1541.S1L6 1983].
