Latin American History II
Map Quiz Study Sheet
http://www.history.umd.edu/Faculty/DWilliams/Spring04/HIST251/mapquiz.html
Using a map identical to the one
that accompanies this study sheet, you will be quizzed on these items at the
end of lecture on Wednesday, February 4, 2004.
In order to pass the quiz, you must
correctly locate seven or more (out of a possible ten) items drawn from the
following list of Latin America's major geographic/topographic/regional features.
All passing grades will be given
full credit for the map quiz (5% of total course grade). If you do not pass
on the first attempt, you may retake the quiz twice. Please arrange re-tests
with your teaching assistant.
for a copy of the map to be used on the exam.
IMPORTANT:
This map does not contain modern political boundaries. If you would like to
see the same map with modern political boundaries, click here.
Again, modern political boundaries will not appear on the map used for the quiz.
Study Tips:
After locating the geographic/topographic
terms that you know off the top of your head, look for unfamiliar terms in the
maps to be found in the Chasteen's Born in Blood and Fire. The Chasteen
text also includes a brief statistical portrait of Latin America on pp. 25-27.
Consult one of the many atlases
in the Reference Section of McKeldin Library. An especially useful atlas is:
- Cathryn and John Lombardi,
Latin American History: A Teaching Atlas (1984)
